		<description>Amanda has been using glib for a few years now, too.  It has replaced a lot of hand-rolled utility functions - many of which were broken - in the Amanda source.

Don&#039;t think of glib as &quot;GTK+ without the X libraries&quot; - think of it as a well-maintained compatibility and utility library, similar to APR (APR&#039;s more focused on efficiency, while glib has a wider range of functionality).

Glib is available for just about any platform - I know folks who have used it on IRIX, AIX, and various versions of HP-UX - even Windows!</description>
